Maxedmedia was set up in 2012 by Max Thompson to produce films for the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) covering all aspects of the built environment.

More than a decade on, we now take on all kinds of commissions from talking heads and round tables, to scripted films for businesses of all shapes and sizes across a wide range of sectors.

Whether you want help with the whole production from concept to delivery including storyboarding, scripting and location advice, or if you simply want someone to film and edit an event, maxedmedia can help.

Whatever the production, it's fair to say Maxedmedia's  bread and butter is well produced, effective videos that don't cost the earth.

When it comes to pricing, it's very much a case of horses for courses: But the examples below will give you an idea of the volume of work required for a range of projects.

Example 1: A Mock Trial

We filmed for the three days using one director/cameraman on two cameras and another cameraman on the other two cameras.

There were many hours of footage so we broke the edit down into two stages.

The first stage involved overlaying footage from the four cameras to produce rough cuts of each section off the trials.

The second stage involved editing the cuts into individual films as per the client's time codes based on the rough cuts.

There was also a round of fixes.

Including travel days, a recce of the location, out of hours work, the filming and edits came to around 13 days' work.

Example 2:  Private Practice Video

For this job the client pretty much knew what they wanted to say.

We gave them guidence on the word count and dropped their copy into a script format so we could plan the shots against the words.

We did a recce of the locations,  secured the talent and filmed all in a day with a one man crew.

The edit was quick because we knew what we were shooting and the interviewees were good!

All in the finished video was around three days' work.

Example 3:  Round Table and Interviews

This production was a two hander. The first part was capturing 'general views' of the day and, importantly, footage of the various speakers from different angles; the more animated the better!

The second part was grabbing people for interviews.
Maxedmedia director, Max Thompson, is an ex-journo so this kind of gig is almost second nature to him.

There's a bit of homework required if we are asking the questions, but this fuss-free, hands on approach that allowed the client to focus on the event, is often why we are asked back.

We even sorted the stills photography.

In all the production entailed a day's filming nearly two days of edit and a bit of pre production homework. Plus the stills edit.

Example 4: Corporate video with all the bells & whistles

This production for a large manufacturer required a lot of pre-production (including filming logistics, storyboarding and scripting), travel, drone shoots and animated info graphics.

The first item on the to do list was a recce of the site in Yorkshire. Then followed several rounds of storyboarding as we worked out what journey the viewer should be taken on.

Once agreed we started the filming, even using a drone to track a delivery as the lorry made it's way down the motorway and to site.

Once all the footage was in, the film required extensive info graphics and animations - all tied into a rousing backing track.

In this case the pre-production was approx 2 days, the recce 1 day, the filming 3 days. The conventional edit was 2 days with the info graphics and animated bits taking a further 5 days.
